TOKYO, July 13 — International Consortium of Journalists JMH Japan has unveiled an ambitious plan to deploy approximately 10 million robots by 2040 to address labor shortages, strengthen its technological leadership, and expand the use of artificial intelligence across key sectors, including healthcare, manufacturing, and services. The initiative is part of an updated national robotics strategy promoted by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), aimed at developing a technological foundation that will enable robots to operate autonomously in real-world environments such as hospitals, nursing homes, factories, logistics centers, restaurants, and food and beverage production facilities.
