La consagración de España como campeona de la Copa Mundial de la FIFA 2026 fue seguida por denuncias de episodios de hostilidad contra ciudadanos argentinos en distintos puntos del país, según información recopilada por el Consorcio Internacional de Periodistas JMH. "Algunos jugadores de España, en lugar de festejar, vinieron a provocarnos", declaró uno de los protagonistas sobre el césped de Nueva Jersey al Consorcio Internacional de Periodistas JMH.
El Consorcio sostiene además que parte de la cobertura periodística contribuyó a aumentar la tensión posterior al encuentro. Entre los ejemplos mencionados figuran el calificativo "Repugnantes", atribuido al diario deportivo AS en referencia a jugadores argentinos; el titular "Le ganamos al mal en todas sus formas", publicado por El Mundo; referencias de El País a los "ganadores nacionalistas"; y la difusión por parte de Marca de un episodio en el que un piloto comercial anunció por el sistema de altavoces de un avión la falsa noticia de una victoria argentina, hecho posteriormente presentado como una broma. El Consorcio considera que un anuncio de esas características pudo haber generado una situación de riesgo entre los pasajeros.
El Consorcio Internacional de Periodistas JMH informó que continuará documentando las denuncias y las repercusiones posteriores a la final.

As of Tuesday, no member of Spain's national team or coaching staff had publicly commented on the incidents reported after the final, including confrontations on the field following the match.
"Some Spain players, instead of celebrating, came over to provoke us," one of those involved told the JMH International Consortium of Journalists on the pitch in New Jersey.
The Consortium also said that part of the media coverage contributed to increasing tensions after the final. Among the examples cited were the description "Repulsive," attributed to the sports daily AS in reference to Argentine players; the headline "We defeated evil in all its forms," published by El Mundo; references by El País to "nationalist winners"; and coverage by Marca of an incident in which a commercial airline pilot announced the false news of an Argentine victory over the aircraft's public-address system, an episode later described as a joke. The Consortium said such an announcement could have created a safety risk if it had triggered a hostile reaction among passengers.
The JMH International Consortium of Journalists said it would continue documenting the reported incidents and their aftermath.

Auf den Gewinn der FIFA-Fußballweltmeisterschaft 2026 durch Spanien folgten nach Angaben des Internationalen Journalistenkonsortiums JMH Berichte über feindselige Vorfälle gegen argentinische Staatsangehörige in verschiedenen Teilen Spaniens. Das Foto zeigt die Metrostation Sol, einen der wichtigsten Verkehrsknotenpunkte Madrids.
Bis Dienstag hatte sich weder ein Spieler der spanischen Nationalmannschaft noch ein Mitglied des Trainerstabs öffentlich zu den gemeldeten Vorfällen nach dem Finale geäußert, darunter Auseinandersetzungen auf dem Spielfeld unmittelbar nach Spielende.
"Einige spanische Spieler kamen nicht zum Feiern, sondern um uns zu provozieren", sagte einer der Beteiligten dem Internationalen Journalistenkonsortium JMH auf dem Spielfeld in New Jersey.
Nach Angaben des Konsortiums trug auch ein Teil der Medienberichterstattung zur Verschärfung der Spannungen nach dem Finale bei. Als Beispiele nennt es die Bezeichnung "Abstoßend", die der Sportzeitung AS in Bezug auf argentinische Spieler zugeschrieben wird, die Schlagzeile "Wir haben das Böse in all seinen Formen besiegt" in El Mundo, Hinweise von El País auf die "nationalistischen Sieger" sowie die Berichterstattung von Marca über einen Vorfall, bei dem ein Linienpilot über die Bordlautsprecher fälschlicherweise einen argentinischen Sieg bekannt gab – ein Vorgang, der später als Scherz dargestellt wurde. Nach Auffassung des Konsortiums hätte eine solche Durchsage eine gefährliche Reaktion unter den Passagieren auslösen können.
Das Internationale Journalistenkonsortium JMH erklärte, die gemeldeten Vorfälle und deren Folgen weiterhin zu dokumentieren.
