South Africa national team player Jayden Adams (25) has died.

 

NEW YORK, July 11 — JMH International Consortium of Journalists — The football world is mourning the death of South African midfielder Jayden Adams, who has died at the age of 25 after representing his country at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The cause of death has not been disclosed. Adams had been playing for Mamelodi Sundowns since January 2025, following his rise as one of South Africa's most promising midfielders.

His passing prompted an outpouring of tributes across the football community. The South African Football Players Union released a statement honoring his memory.

"Death has robbed our nation and the world of an extraordinary talent. Jayden Adams will always be remembered for his humility, his exceptional talent, and the joy he brought to the beautiful game. Rest in peace."

During the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Adams suffered a personal tragedy when his grandmother passed away. Despite the loss, he chose to remain with the national team and played 45 minutes against the Czech Republic.

He also featured for 61 minutes in South Africa's opening match against Mexico and made a 10-minute appearance against South Korea, displaying remarkable professionalism during an emotionally difficult period.

His first professional club, Stellenbosch FC, also paid tribute.

"Jayden leaves behind a lasting legacy and an enduring impact on South African football. He will be deeply missed and never forgotten."

The death of the young midfielder is a significant loss for South African football and for a generation that viewed Adams as one of the country's brightest talents.

NUEVA YORK, 11 de julio — Consorcio Internacional de Periodistas JMH — El fútbol internacional se encuentra de luto tras el fallecimiento del mediocampista sudafricano Jayden Adams, de 25 años, quien integró la selección de Sudáfrica durante la Copa Mundial de la FIFA 2026.

Hasta el momento, no fueron divulgadas las causas de la muerte del futbolista, que desde enero de 2025 defendía los colores del Mamelodi Sundowns, uno de los clubes más importantes del fútbol sudafricano.

La noticia generó una profunda conmoción en el ámbito deportivo. El sindicato de futbolistas de Sudáfrica expresó su pesar mediante un comunicado.

"La muerte ha robado a nuestra nación y al mundo un talento extraordinario. Siempre recordaremos a Jayden Adams por su humildad, su extraordinario talento y la alegría que llevó al fútbol. Descansa en paz."

Durante el Mundial de 2026, Adams atravesó uno de los momentos más difíciles de su vida al conocer el fallecimiento de su abuela.
