MÉXICO DF, 4 de julio (Consorcio Internacional de Periodistas JMH) — México, considerado por organizaciones defensoras de la libertad de prensa como uno de los países más peligrosos para el ejercicio del periodismo fuera de escenarios de guerra, suma una nueva víctima. La periodista Roxana Guzmán fue hallada asesinada un mes después de haber sido secuestrada en el estado de Veracruz. Guzmán era directora del portal digital Pulso Informativo del Sureste. De acuerdo con la investigación, fue privada de su libertad tras el ingreso violento de un grupo de hombres armados a su vivienda.
Según los informes oficiales, varios individuos encapuchados y portando armas largas derribaron la puerta de acceso utilizando una maza. Una vez dentro, secuestraron a la periodista y huyeron del lugar. Desde entonces no se conoció información sobre su paradero hasta el hallazgo de sus restos.
Un funcionario vinculado a la investigación indicó que el cuerpo de Guzmán fue encontrado calcinado dentro de un barril metálico.
La causa también involucra a miembros de las fuerzas de seguridad. Entre los detenidos figuran cuatro policías del municipio de Ixhuatlán del Sureste, quienes, según la investigación, habrían brindado apoyo logístico, recursos y asistencia a la organización criminal señalada como responsable del secuestro y homicidio de la periodista.
El caso vuelve a poner en evidencia la grave situación que enfrenta la prensa en México, donde periodistas y trabajadores de medios continúan siendo blanco de amenazas, ataques y asesinatos vinculados al crimen organizado y a redes de corrupción.

Journalist Roxana Guzmán was found murdered a month after being abducted in the state of Veracruz.
Guzmán was the director of the digital news outlet *Pulso Informativo del Sureste*. According to the investigation, she was abducted after a group of armed men forcibly entered her home.
Official reports state that several hooded individuals carrying long guns smashed down the front door using a sledgehammer. Once inside, they abducted the journalist and fled the scene. No information regarding her whereabouts surfaced until her remains were discovered.
An official linked to the investigation stated that Guzmán’s body was found burned inside a metal barrel.
The case also implicates members of the security forces. Among those detained are four police officers from the municipality of Ixhuatlán del Sureste; the investigation suggests they provided logistical support, resources, and assistance to the criminal organization identified as responsible for the journalist's abduction and murder.
This case once again highlights the dire situation facing the press in Mexico, where journalists and media workers continue to be targets of threats, attacks, and murders linked to organized crime and corruption networks.
