Caroline Peña, de 32 años y madre de cinco hijos. Si bien las acusadas se niegan a dilucidar el móvil del crimen, parece que una discusión previa en la red social Facebook habría sido el disparador.

Según refieren testigos del hecho, hubo unas publicaciones de fotos de las hermanas Díaz que fueron criticadas por Peña. En un lugar pequeño como Del Río, con apenas unos 10 mil habitantes, las noticias viajan rápido. Por eso los vecinos admitían que al encontrarse cara a cara, Peña con las hermanas y una amiga más de las agresoras (hoy las tres detenidas); "todo ocurrió en segundos. De la nada había sangre por todas partes y a pleno día y en un sitio muy transitado. Pasó tan rápido que solo pudieron auxiliar a la madre atacada cuando era tarde", dijo al Consorcio Internacional de Periodistas JMH, Brian de 25 años y vecino de Del Río, Texas.

La fianza para las presuntas asesinas se ha establecido en 15 millones de dólares.
