July 17. Iran’s retaliation following attacks launched by the United States has been intense in Kuwait, where a power plant and a water desalination plant have been destroyed.
Iran and the United States continue their attacks while remaining far apart diplomatically. U.S. superiority in the conflict has not prevented Iranian attacks, as Iran’s retaliatory capability remains intact.
Attacks from both sides:
The United States launched dozens of missiles from aircraft, drones, and warships, targeting Iranian ports and the south of the country; a tower collapsed in Chabahar (on the Gulf of Oman), and roads and bridges leading to Bandar Abbas—the key port on the Strait of Hormuz—were damaged.
Iran attacked U.S. military bases in Qatar, Bahrain, and Kuwait. In the latter, a power plant and a desalination plant were destroyed, causing a fire and damage of undetermined extent. Desalination is vital for water supply—and for human life—in the arid Gulf region, as it meets approximately 90% of Kuwait's needs.
Iran’s capacity to inflict damage remains intact:
Trump told Fox News that Iran’s weapons arsenal had been reduced by 91%; however, following months of attacks by the United States and Israel, the scale of the Iranian attacks tells a very different story.

Julio 17. La represalia de Irán, luego de los ataques lanzados por Estados Unidos, ha sido intensa en Kuwait, donde ha sido destruida una central eléctrica y una planta desalinizadora de agua. Irán y Estados Unidos continúan los ataques, muy distanciados en el plano diplomático. La superioridad de Estados Unidos en el conflicto no impide los ataques de Irán con su capacidad de represalia intacta.
Ataques de ambos laddos:
Estados Unidos lanzó decenas de misiles desde aviones, drones y buques de guerra— tuvo como objetivo puertos iraníes y el sur del país; se derrumbó una torre en Chabahar (en el golfo de Omán) y resultaron afectadas carreteras y puentes que conducen a Bandar Abbas, el puerto clave del estrecho de Ormuz.
Irán atacó las bases militares de Estados Unidos en Qatar, Bahréin y Kuwait. En este último país, una central eléctrica y una planta desalinizadora fue destruida, provocando un incendio y daños de cuantía indeterminada. La desalinización es vital para el suministro de agua —y para la vida humana— en la árida región del Golfo, ya que cubre aproximadamente el 90 % de las necesidades de Kuwait.
