Los precios internacionales del petróleo registran fuertes subas este miércoles luego de que el presidente de Estados Unidos, Donald Trump, anunciara que el acuerdo con Irán "ha terminado", reavivando la preocupación de los mercados por una nueva escalada en Medio Oriente.
El crudo Brent del Mar del Norte avanza alrededor de un 6% y cotiza en US$ 78,58 por barril, mientras que el West Texas Intermediate (WTI) estadounidense sube un 6,1%, hasta US$ 74,70 por barril.
En declaraciones formuladas antes de la cumbre de la OTAN en Ankara, Trump afirmó que el acuerdo provisional destinado a poner fin al conflicto entre Estados Unidos, Israel e Irán había concluido y agregó que no tiene intención de reanudar contactos con Teherán.
Según informó el martes el Mando Central de Estados Unidos (CENTCOM), los recientes ataques aéreos estadounidenses fueron una respuesta a acciones atribuidas a Irán contra tres buques mercantes que navegaban por el estrecho de Ormuz. Posteriormente, la Guardia Revolucionaria iraní aseguró haber lanzado ataques contra instalaciones militares estadounidenses ubicadas en Baréin y Kuwait durante la madrugada del miércoles.

International oil prices are surging this Wednesday after U.S. President Donald Trump announced that the agreement with Iran "is over," reigniting market concerns about a new escalation in the Middle East.
North Sea Brent crude is up around 6%, trading at $78.58 per barrel, while U.S. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) has risen 6.1% to $74.70 per barrel.
Speaking ahead of the NATO summit in Ankara, Trump stated that the interim agreement aimed at ending the conflict between the United States, Israel, and Iran had concluded, adding that he has no intention of resuming contact with Tehran.
U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) reported on Tuesday that recent U.S. airstrikes were a response to actions attributed to Iran against three merchant vessels sailing through the Strait of Hormuz. Subsequently, Iran's Revolutionary Guard claimed to have launched attacks against U.S. military facilities in Bahrain and Kuwait early Wednesday morning.
International stock markets fall
Rising geopolitical tension is also having a significant impact on financial markets.
