Attack with an incendiary device on the ICE headquarters in New York is being investigated as a suspected terrorist attack.

An armed individual ignited an incendiary device outside the Jacob K. Javits Federal Building, which houses the Manhattan field office of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), as well as offices of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), the Immigration Court and other federal agencies at 26 Federal Plaza in Lower Manhattan.

According to officials who spoke with the JMH International Consortium of Journalists, the incident is being investigated by the Joint Terrorism Task Force as a suspected attack targeting ICE facilities.

The New York City Police Department said the suspect, whose identity has not yet been released, started a fire and allegedly threatened passersby with airsoft rifles.

"The individual has been taken into custody, and the FBI New York Joint Terrorism Task Force is investigating the incident," authorities said in a statement.

The investigation remains ongoing, and officials have not yet disclosed a possible motive.
