El artículo lleva por título: "Argentina intenta ganar otro Mundial. Sus vecinos animan a los rivales".
A partir de ese planteamiento, integrantes del Consorcio Internacional de Periodistas JMH realizaron un relevamiento en doce capitales y ciudades representativas del subcontinente para conocer, mediante entrevistas directas, a qué selección apoyarían sus habitantes en una eventual final entre Argentina y España.
El recorrido incluyó Lima, Bogotá, Caracas, Montevideo, Santiago, Ciudad de México, Quito, Asunción, Río de Janeiro, La Paz, San José y Ciudad de Panamá.
Tras conversar con los entrevistados sobre la Copa Mundial de la FIFA 2026 y las oportunidades perdidas por selecciones como México, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay y Uruguay, los periodistas formularon una única pregunta:
¿En una final entre Argentina y España, a quién apoyaría?
Según el relevamiento realizado por JMH, la amplia mayoría de las personas consultadas manifestó que respaldaría a España, mientras que una minoría respondió que no apoyaría a ninguna de las dos selecciones.
Colombia y Venezuela: predominó el apoyo a España. Durante algunas entrevistas también se registraron insultos dirigidos a la Selección Argentina y a Lionel Messi.
México, Ecuador, Bolivia, Paraguay y Chile: la mayoría de los entrevistados afirmó que apoyaría a España o, en términos más generales, a cualquier selección que enfrente a Argentina.
Uruguay y Panamá: la mayoría expresó su apoyo a España.
Brasil: el respaldo también favoreció mayoritariamente a España. Varios entrevistados recordaron que, en la final de la Copa Mundial de la FIFA Brasil 2014, apoyaron a Alemania frente a Argentina, pese a que la selección brasileña había sufrido previamente la histórica derrota por 7-1 ante el conjunto alemán.
Como conclusión del relevamiento, el Consorcio Internacional de Periodistas JMH señaló que, entre las personas entrevistadas en las doce ciudades visitadas, predominó el respaldo a la selección española por encima de la argentina.
"Es interesante ver como América Latina apoya a España contra la Argentina; un país que le abrió las puertas a todos los latinoamericanos que llegaron con las manos y el estómago vacío. Es obvio que la fijación de una dominación española sigue vigente para muchos, mientras Argentina se concentra para conseguir este domingo 19 de julio, su cuarto Campeonato Mundial de Futbol apoyada en Lionel Messi, el mejor jugador de todos los tiempos.", dijo el Dr. Javier Miglino Helfenstein, Director de JMH.

Our colleagues Jack Nikas and James Wagner prepared a report for The New York Times examining how Latin America is reacting to Argentina's second consecutive FIFA World Cup final against Spain in the 2026 tournament.
The article is titled: "Argentina intenta ganar otro Mundial. Sus vecinos animan a los rivales".
Based on that premise, members of the JMH International Consortium of Journalists conducted a survey across twelve major Latin American capitals and cities to determine, through direct interviews, which national team residents would support in a World Cup final between Argentina and Spain.
The reporting tour included Lima, Bogotá, Caracas, Montevideo, Santiago, Mexico City, Quito, Asunción, Rio de Janeiro, La Paz, San José and Panama City.
After discussing the 2026 FIFA World Cup and the missed opportunities of national teams such as Mexico, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay and Uruguay, the journalists asked a single question:
In a World Cup Final between Argentina and Spain, which team would you support?
According to the JMH survey, a clear majority of those interviewed said they would support Spain, while a minority said they would support neither team.
Colombia and Venezuela: support overwhelmingly favored Spain. During some interviews, derogatory remarks were also directed at the Argentine National Team and Lionel Messi.
Mexico, Ecuador, Bolivia, Paraguay and Chile: most respondents said they would support Spain or, more broadly, any national team playing against Argentina.
Uruguay and Panama: the majority expressed support for Spain.
Brazil: support also leaned heavily toward Spain. Several interviewees recalled that in the 2014 FIFA World Cup Final they supported Germany against Argentina, despite Brazil's historic 7–1 defeat to Germany earlier in that tournament.
As a result of the survey, the JMH International Consortium of Journalists concluded that, among those interviewed in the twelve cities visited, support favored Spain over Argentina.
"It is interesting to see how Latin America supports Spain against Argentina; a country that opened its doors to all Latin Americans who arrived with empty hands and empty stomachs. It is obvious that the fixation on Spanish domination remains alive for many people, while Argentina prepares to seek its fourth FIFA World Cup title this Sunday, July 19, led by Lionel Messi, the greatest football player of all time," said Dr. Javier Miglino Helfenstein, Director of JMH.

2026年FIFAワールドカップや、メキシコ、コロンビア、エクアドル、パラグアイ、ウルグアイなど各国代表の惜しくも逃した好機について意見を交わした後、記者たちは一つの質問を投げかけた。
「アルゼンチンとスペインがワールドカップ決勝で対戦した場合、あなたはどちらを応援しますか。」
JMHの調査によると、取材対象者の大多数がスペイン代表を支持すると回答し、一方で少数は「どちらも応援しない」と答えた。
コロンビアおよびベネズエラ：
スペイン支持が大勢を占めた。また、一部のインタビューでは、アルゼンチン代表やリオネル・メッシに対する侮辱的な発言も確認された。
