A Norwegian girl was celebrating the victory over Brazil in Marbella when she was struck by a vehicle.

Nikoline Piwoni was a 17-year-old Norwegian girl vacationing on the Costa del Sol with some of her family. Last Sunday, she watched the World Cup match between Brazil and Norway—which kicked off at 10:00 PM (Spanish mainland time)—with several friends. Later, the group went to a nightclub in the Puerto Banús area of ​​Marbella. Around 4:00 AM, she requested a ride-hailing service (VTC) to take her to her accommodation, located near Marbella but within the municipality of Mijas. While on the A-7 highway near Mijas, she was struck by a truck that fled the scene.

The events that followed are the focus of the investigation. First, authorities are trying to clarify why the vehicle stopped on the highway, where dropping off passengers is prohibited. They are also analyzing the circumstances that led to the young woman being struck by a truck. One hypothesis is that she attempted to cross the road to reach her accommodation, though other possibilities have not been ruled out.

Emergency medical personnel could only confirm the young woman's death. She was not carrying any identification, so she could not be identified until later on Monday, when her parents reported her missing to the National Police.

The Civil Guard is now searching for the driver of the truck that killed the victim and fled the scene.

El pasado domingo vio con varios amigos el partido del Mundial de fútbol entre Brasil y Noruega, que se celebró a las 22.00 (hora peninsular española). Más tarde, el grupo se desplazó hasta una discoteca en la zona de Puerto Banús, en Marbella. Sobre las cuatro de la mañana solicitó un servicio VTC para trasladarse hasta su alojamiento, cerca de la localidad marbellí pero ya en el término municipal de Mijas. En plena autovía A-7 a la altura de Mijas, fue atropellada por un camión que se dio la fuga.

Lo que ocurrió a partir de ahí centra las dudas de los investigadores. Primero, tratan de aclarar por qué el vehículo se detuvo en plena autovía, donde no está permitida la parada para la bajada de pasajeros. Y también analizan qué ocurrió para que la chica fuese atropellada por un camión. Una de las hipótesis es que intentó cruzar para llegar hasta el lugar donde se hospedaba, pero no se descartan otras posibilidades.

Los médicos de emergencias solo pudieron certificar la muerte de la chica. No llevaba la documentación encima, así que no pudo ser identificada hasta que, más tarde, a lo largo de la jornada del lunes, sus padres denunciaron su desaparición ante la Policía Nacional.

Ahora, la Guardia Civil busca al conductor del camión que acabó con la vida de la víctima y se dio a la fuga.
