GENEVA, June 13, 2026 — International Consortium of Journalists JMH — The Tren de Aragua is the first transnational terrorist organization in the world to have originated in Latin America. It was born in the Tocorón prison in Venezuela and managed to create a structure of murders, beheadings, dismemberments, extortion, robberies, drug trafficking, human trafficking, and other crimes, unlike anything seen before in 200 years of Latin American history.
In recent hours, US President Donald Trump announced that the leader of the Tren de Aragua had been killed, of course, in Venezuela. Héctor Rusthenford Guerrero Flores, better known as "Niño Guerrero," was one of the world's most dangerous terrorists, with a $5 million reward offered for his capture.
Why is the Tren de Aragua so dangerous?

In this way, the money grows, and with money comes the purchase of weapons, the recruitment of more Venezuelans, travel expenses around the world, and the expansion of its criminal infrastructure.
What does the Venezuelan government say about Tren de Aragua? The Venezuelan government issued a statement on Friday indicating that in a "combined operation" between its security agencies and those of the United States, "organized crime structures operating in the southeastern part of Bolívar state were dismantled."
"During the operation, clashes occurred with members of these criminal structures, resulting in the death of Héctor Rusthenford Guerrero Flores, alias 'Niño Guerrero,' the leader of a criminal organization."
While Venezuela refers to the Tren de Aragua as a group of bad guys, Trump's message is much harsher:
"Under my direction, the United States Southern Command conducted a swift and lethal kinetic strike to eliminate 'Niño Guerrero,' the infamous leader of the Tren de Aragua, one of the most bloodthirsty terrorist organizations on the planet," Trump wrote.
The Tren de Aragua Criminal Army:
It is estimated that there are currently some 12,000 criminals belonging to the Tren de Aragua. More than 90 percent are Venezuelan, scattered throughout Latin America, Spain, and the United States; from now on, they will no longer receive orders from the deceased 'Niño Guerrero' (Warrior Child). ¿Por qué es tan peligroso el Tren de Aragua?

La organización genera dinero y luego lo lava en actividades como hoteles (Colombia), locales de sushi, lavaderos de autos y barberías (Buenos Aires), casas de cambio de divisas (Uruguay) y burdeles (Ecuador, Venezuela, España, Estados Unidos, etc.).
De ese modo el dinero crece y con dinero, crecen la compra de armas, el reclutamiento de más venezolanos, los gastos de viaje por el mundo y la infraestructura criminal.
¿Qué dice el gobierno venezolano del Tren de Aragua?
El gobierno de Venezuela emitió un comunicado, el viernes, en el que señaló que en "una operación combinada" entre sus organismos de seguridad y de Estados Unidos, "en el sureste del estado Bolívar, fueron desarticuladas estructuras de delincuencia organizada que operaban en la zona".
"Durante el desarrollo de la operación se produjeron enfrentamientos con integrantes de estas estructuras criminales, en los que resultó neutralizado Héctor Rusthenford Guerrero Flores, alias 'Niño Guerrero', cabecilla de una organización criminal".
Mientras Venezuela menciona al Tren de Aragua como un grupo de chicos malos, mucho más duro es el mensaje de Trump:
"Bajo mis órdenes, el Comando Sur de los Estados Unidos llevó a cabo un ataque cinético rápido y letal para eliminar a 'Niño Guerrero', el infame líder del Tren de Aragua, una de las organizaciones terroristas más sanguinarias del planeta", escribió Trump.
El ejército criminal del Tren de Aragua:
Se calcula que en la actualidad hay unos 12 mil criminales que forman parte del Tren de Aragua. Más del 90 por ciento son venezolanos, diseminados en América Latina, España y Estados Unidos; que a partir de ahora ya no recibirán órdenes del extinto 'Niño Guerrero'. Seguramente llevará un tiempo desarticular a esta organización terrorista y mientras tanto es menester estar atento.
