En su primer mensaje tras los terremotos, la presidenta interina, Delcy Rodríguez, anunció la declaración de estado de emergencia en todo el país.
La mandataria informó que no habrá clases en lo que queda de semana y se suspenden todas las actividades que no sean servicios esenciales.
Los estados más afectados son La Guaira, Aragua, Carabobo y Falcón, ubicados en la franja norte costera de Venezuela.

Many Venezuelans were at home when the earthquake struck, around 6:00 p.m. local time on a public holiday.
In her first statement following the earthquakes, Interim President Delcy Rodríguez announced a nationwide state of emergency.
The leader announced that classes are cancelled for the remainder of the week and all activities other than essential services are suspended.
The most affected states are La Guaira, Aragua, Carabobo, and Falcón, located along Venezuela's northern coastal strip.
Classes and all activities unrelated to essential services have been suspended.
Maiquetía International Airport, which serves Caracas, will remain closed after sustaining severe infrastructure damage.
