Spain drew 0-0 against Cape Verde in their World Cup debut. Luis de la Fuente's men dominated possession in Atlanta, but were unable to find the net against a team that had never played a match in the World Cup. The Spanish team, slow in their passing, now needs a win against Saudi Arabia to avoid further jeopardizing their qualification. De la Fuente opted for Unai Simón and Gavi in the starting eleven, leaving Lamine Yamal on the bench.
Los de Luis de la Fuente acumularon posesión de balón en Atlanta, pero no fueron capaces de encontrar portería ante una selección que nunca había disputado un partido en la Copa del Mundo. La Selección, lenta en la circulación del balón, está obligada ahora a ganar a Arabia Saudí para no complicarse aún más su clasificación. De la Fuente había apostado por Unai Simón y Gavi en el once, dejando en el banquillo a Lamine Yamal.
En el segundo tiempo entró Yamal pero no pudo encontrar el hueco para el gol.
