Bullying in Hollywood. Martin Short's daughter.

Martin Short's daughter, Katherine Hartley (born Katherine Elizabeth Short), tragically died by suicide in February 2026. Martin shared with the World Organization Bullying Without Borders that his beloved daughter Katherine struggled for a long time with serious mental health issues, including borderline personality disorder.

Katherine was a psychologist and worked in the psychiatric social services field.

She legally changed her last name to Hartley years before her death to protect her patients' privacy and avoid cyberbullying due to her father's social media fame.

The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner's autopsy report confirmed that she died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

LOS ANGELES. Mayo 27. Consorcio Internacional de Periodistas JMH — La hija de Martin Short, Katherine Hartley (nacida Katherine Elizabeth Short), murió trágicamente por suicidio en febrero de 2026. 

Martin compartió con la Organización Mundial Bullying Sin Fronteras que su querida hija Katherine luchó durante mucho tiempo con graves problemas de salud mental, incluido el trastorno límite de la personalidad. 

Katherine era psicóloga y trabajaba en el área social psiquiátrico. 

Cambió legalmente su apellido a Hartley años antes de su muerte para mantener la privacidad de sus pacientes y evitar el ciberbullying debido a la fama de su padre en las redes sociales.

El informe de la autopsia del médico forense del condado de Los Ángeles confirmó que falleció por una herida de bala autoinfligida.
