Shooting in Baton Rouge. One dead teen and five injured.

Baton Rouge police confirmed to Bullying Without Borders that they are investigating a shooting at the Mall of Louisiana in Baton Rouge where a teenager was killed and at least five others were injured; three of them students from Ascension Episcopal School in Lafayette.

Monica Blanco Boulet, President of the Lafayette Parish, confirmed the information to BSF.

According to Chief TJ Morse, there is no threat to the public at this time.

Five people are in custody.

Police believe it was a targeted incident between two people who were arguing near the food court before shooting each other.

Some of the victims are in the trauma unit and are undergoing surgery, Morse said. 

Official statement from Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry:

"I am aware of the shooting at the Mall of Louisiana. I am coordinating with authorities and will provide updates as soon as we have more information. Please avoid the area. Sharon and I are praying for those affected and appreciate the swift response from authorities."

The Mall of Louisiana remains closed.

La Policía de Baton Rouge confirmó a la Organización Bullying Sin Frontears que está investigando un tiroteo en el centro comercial Mall of Louisiana en Baton Rouge donde un adolescente fue asesinado y hay al menos cinco heridos; tres de ellos estudiantes de la Escuela Ascension Episcopal School de Lafayette.

Según el jefe TJ Morse, no existe ninguna amenaza para el público en este momento.

La policía cree que se trató de un incidente dirigido entre dos personas que discutían cerca del patio de comidas antes de dispararse mutuamente.

Algunas de las víctimas se encuentran en la unidad de traumatología y están siendo operadas, indicó Morse.

Comunicado oficial dll Gobernador de Lousiana Jeff Landry:

"Estoy al tanto del tiroteo en el Mall of Louisiana. Estoy en coordinación con las autoridades y les informaremos en cuanto tengamos más información. Por favor, eviten la zona. Sharon y yo oramos por los afectados y agradecemos la rápida respuesta de las autoridades."

El Mall of Louisiana permanece cerrado.
