The house, located at 1236 Barzana Street, had been seized by the Bolivian land-grabbing mafia 15 years ago. Several Bolivian criminals have been arrested.
The head of the organization was a Bolivian man with an outstanding arrest warrant issued by the Federal Administrative Court No. 7, presided over by Judge Lara Correa. Her residency permit had been revoked at the end of 2022. The eviction operation was ordered by the Northern Flagrancy Unit, headed by prosecutor María Andrea Caleri, as the property had been closed due to structural risks by the Government Control Agency (AGC). Mayor Jorge Macri's statement:
In this regard, he warned: “Many bad things happen around an occupied dwelling. There's drug dealing, a lot of hidden crime. What starts badly ends worse. There are those who go out and steal, or extort money like a parking attendant; children's rights are violated, there's human trafficking. And there are good people who pay rent in good faith for an unlivable place. If anyone thinks that's freedom, they haven't understood anything.”
