A partir de una investigación del Consorcio Internacional de Periodistas JMH hemos podido establecer que Noelia Castillo Ramos, la chica de 25 años oriunda de Barcelona, España que murió por eutanasia y conmovió al mundo, había solicitado terminar con su vida porque ya no podía soportar el dolor físico y mental.
Based on an investigation by the JMH International Consortium of Journalists, we have been able to establish that Noelia Castillo Ramos, the 25-year-old woman from Barcelona, Spain, who died by euthanasia and moved the world, had requested to end her life because she could no longer bear the physical and mental pain.
El día 26 de marzo de 2026 a las 18 horas (hora de España), Noelia había accedido a la eutanasia, abriendo una grieta en la Península Ibérica sobre la desigualdad, la injusticia y el daño sobre la mujer.
¿Qué le pasó a Noelia?
Noelia había sido violada. Según fuentes a las que accedieron tanto el Consorcio Internacional de Periodistas JMH como la Organización Mundial Bullying Sin Fronteras, se trató de más de un episodio de ataque sexual e incluso en el último de ellos que habría ocurrido en una disco, fue de más de dos depredadores sexuales, con lo que estamos ante un terrible escenario de violación múltiple o 'en manada' tal como se la llama en España.
Intento de suicidio:
Tras el último episodio de violación grupal, Noelia se arrojó desde un quinto piso y sobrevivió, pero sufrió lesiones irreversibles que la dejaron con paraplejia.
Durante años permaneció internada en centros especializados y atravesó tratamientos médicos sin lograr mejorar su calidad de vida.
La joven solicitó la muerte asistida en 2024 al argumentar que sufre dolores físicos, psicológicos y emocionales persistentes como consecuencia de una paraplejia irreversible.
“La felicidad de mi familia no puede estar por encima de mi sufrimiento. Yo quiero irme en paz”, expresó la joven en unas pocas palabras que tuvo con BSF, al explicar por qué decidió iniciar el proceso para acceder a la eutanasia.
El mensaje del Dr. Javier Miglino Helfenstein:
"Un dolor inconmensurable nos produce la muerte de Noelia Castillo Ramos, una extraordinaria mujer que debió lidiar con la injusticia de ser violada, de no recibir respuestas apropiadas por parte de la justicia de Cataluña y de España y de vivir en el dolor, luego de intentar suicidarse; un acto desesperado que llevó a cabo justamente para dejar de sufrir. Unas pocas palabras con ella nos mostraron su entereza, sus ganas de vivir pero sin sufrimiento, sin constituir una carga para su familia, una mujer que luchó simplemente por intentar vivir en paz y no pudo hacerlo. Todos le hemos fallado a Noelia. Una extraordinaria mujer que ya no está y que nos obliga a trabajar mejor contra el abuso, la injusticia y el dolor", dijo el Dr. Javier Miglino Helfenstein, Experto en Derechos Humanos y Protección de la Niñez.

Based on an investigation by the JMH International Consortium of Journalists, we have been able to establish that Noelia Castillo Ramos, the 25-year-old woman from Barcelona, Spain, who died by euthanasia and moved the world, had requested to end her life because she could no longer bear the physical and mental pain.
On March 26, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. (Spanish time), Noelia agreed to euthanasia, opening a rift in the Iberian Peninsula regarding inequality, injustice, and the harm inflicted on women.
What happened to Noelia?
Noelia had been raped. According to sources accessed by both the JMH International Consortium of Journalists and the World Organization Bullying Without Borders, there were more than one instance of sexual assault, and in the last one, which allegedly occurred in a nightclub, there were more than two perpetrators, making this a horrific case of gang rape, or "pack rape," as it is known in Spain.
Suicide attempt:
After the last gang rape, Noelia jumped from a fifth-floor window and survived, but suffered irreversible injuries that left her paraplegic.
For years she remained hospitalized in specialized centers and underwent medical treatments without any improvement in her quality of life.
The young woman requested assisted dying in 2024, arguing that she suffers persistent physical, psychological, and emotional pain as a result of irreversible paraplegia.
“My family’s happiness cannot come before my suffering. I want to go in peace,” the young woman expressed in a few words with BSF, explaining why she decided to begin the process to access euthanasia.
The message from Dr. Javier Miglino Helfenstein:
"We feel immeasurable sorrow at the death of Noelia Castillo Ramos, an extraordinary woman who had to cope with the injustice of being raped, of not receiving appropriate responses from the justice system in Catalonia and Spain, and of living in pain after attempting suicide; a desperate act she carried out precisely to end her suffering. A few words with her revealed her strength, her desire to live without suffering, without being a burden to her family, a woman who fought simply to try to live in peace and could not. We have all failed Noelia. An extraordinary woman who is no longer with us and who compels us to work harder against abuse, injustice, and suffering," said Dr. Javier Miglino Helfenstein, an expert in Human Rights and Child Protection.
